Donation

(a)    Egg donation

In egg donation, the eggs are obtained from a donor, and they are fertilised with the sperm of the recipient's male partner. The indications of egg donations are:

  • cannot produce egg of their own
  • advance age
  • premature ovarian failure
  • resistant ovary syndrome
  • hereditary disease
  • repeated unsuccessful IVF cycles

The lady who is the egg donor will receive COH similar to that of IVF cycle, while the recipient will be prepared so that her endometrium will be ready to accept the embryos at the time of embryo transfer. In other words, the endometrium of the recipient will be synchronised with that of the donor. The endometrium of the recipient is prepared by a series of hormone medications. If the recipient's menstrual cycle is unable to be synchronised with that of the donor's, then the resulting embryos will be frozen and embryo transfer will be performed later when the recipient is ready. After embryo transfer, the recipient will be given medications for luteal support.

(b)   Sperm donation

Sperm donation is designed for men who are azoospermia (no sperm) or have hereditary diseases. The sperm is collected from the sperm donor, and processed, then used for IUI or IVF.

Metro IVF is recruiting egg and sperm donors. We welcome those who are healthy and under 35 years of age. You will be advised to have a medical check-up to check for suitability as an egg or sperm donor before you can do so. Please contact our embryologists, Ms Lee or Ms Ilanah, at 03-33412277 for further details.
