Here’s the story of a remarkable engineer, CY, who exemplifies intelligence, hard work, and courage, all in pursuit of her dream of starting a family.
CY knew from the start that her path to parenthood would be challenging, for she had previously undergone two surgeries on her uterus and tubes. Just a year into her marriage, she embarked on her IVF journey and went through three cycles at two different centres, yet success remained elusive.
After six months of dedicated reading and research, CY made the bold decision to pursue her fourth IVF cycle at Metro IVF. Two weeks after the embryo transfer (ET), her urine pregnancy test (UPT) and beta-hCG test were positive. Her pregnancy progressed smoothly, and she eventually delivered a healthy girl, now four years old.
Undeterred by previous setbacks, CY maintained her positive attitude and courageously proceeded with her fifth and sixth IVF cycles, though they were unsuccessful. However, CY’s determination never wavered. She embarked on her seventh IVF cycle, and once again, her UPT and beta-hCG test results were positive.
But there’s even more to this remarkable journey! At the 11-week mark, a scan revealed a set of Monochorionic Monoamniotic twins*. There were two fetuses in one sac! CY eventually delivered a set of healthy identical boys, now five months old.
After eight years of marriage, CY is overjoyed to finally have the family she has longed for.
*MCMA twins: These twins result from the embryo splitting into two at about 8 days of life, forming two babies with similar biological features. They share one pregnancy sac and placenta.
