Unexpected Miracles: A Spontaneous Pregnancy After HSG

There is a possibility of getting pregnant after going through a hysterosalpingogram (HSG). A HSG is a test done to check if the Fallopian tubes are working. It involves inserting a small catheter into the uterus and injecting dye into it. Then, an X-ray is taken to see if the dye is spilled into the abdominal cavity, thus indicating whether the tubes are working or patent.

One of our patients underwent a hysteroscopy and polyp removal before going for a HSG scan in the following month. Lo and behold, she returned with a viable pregnancy!

While you might feel some discomfort during a HSG scan, it is an important step in identifying your fertility issues. For a small group of patients, it might even bring the miracle of a spontaneous pregnancy!
