Why undergo fertility preservation before cancer treatment? During cancer treatment, chemotherapy or radiation will cause genetic damage to the sperm cells, killing them and causing male infertility. Before proceeding with chemotherapy, men can prevent infertility by freezing their sperm for later.
PY’s husband required urgent chemotherapy to treat his cancer. His oncologist recommended freezing his sperm before starting treatment, to which he did. Soon after starting chemotherapy, PY and her husband came for IVF treatment using his frozen sperm. Arrangements were made to transfer his frozen sperm to Metro IVF, and PY started on antagonist protocol. After the embryo transfer, PY ended up pregnant and the couple began their journey to parenthood.
