Dr. Afida Sohana Awang Soh

Dr. Afida Sohana Awang Soh graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from University of Otago, New Zealand in 2001. In 2004, she was awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Obstetrics with Distinction. 

In the early part of her career, Dr. Afida Sohana mainly worked as a Senior Registrar and trainee with Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in various hospitals in New Zealand, whilst also fulfilling her love in teaching as Honorary Clinical Lecturer for O&G in various campus of University of Otago. 

Upon returning to Malaysia in 2016, Dr. Afida Sohana continued her passion in Women and Children’s Health where she worked in several private hospitals. Currently, she is with Hospital Wanita Metro as a Senior Registrar in O&G. 

At the same time, she continues her passion in educating women’s health to the public by being an active member  of MedTweetMY (Medical Tweet Malaysia). She also served as secretary for MedTweetMY from its birth in 2016 until 2022. MedTweetMY is an NGO that is active in educating people about health through mainstream platforms and social media. She also co-wrote the Perang Melawan Mitos, a book by MedTweetMY, which was nominated as Best MPH Non Fiction Book 2017. 

Dr. Afida Sohana is a member of OGSM (Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia) and MMA (Malaysian Medical Association).
