Prof. Dr. Jayabalan A/L Valliapan

Prof. Dr. Jaya Balan A/L Valliappan is a renowned medical practitioner specialising in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with over 25 years of experience. He is one of the pioneers in Reproductive Medicine in Ipoh, having been instrumental in establishing the first infertility service in the region.

Prof. Dr. Jaya Balan served in government hospitals for 15 years, contributing significantly to the National Level ART Implementation Committee. He is currently a Visiting Consultant at Pantai Hospital Ipoh, LPPKN, and presently practicing at Metro IVF Ipoh.

In addition to his clinical practice, Prof. Dr. Jaya Balan has held several academic positions, such as Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Quest International University. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Manipal Medical College, India, and completed his postgraduate studies in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University Malaya, Malaysia. His subspecialty in Reproductive Medicine was honed through fellowship programs at Rotunda Fertility Centre in Mumbai, India, and HUKM – Ministry of Health Malaysia. He also holds a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) and completed an Assisted Reproductive Technology Course at Chiang Mai University.

Prior to joining Metro IVF and bringing his wealth of experience to the team, Prof. Dr. Jaya Balan worked in government hospitals across Malaysia & served in private practices as well. His contributions to the field are evident in his numerous international and local publications, presentations, and workshops.

He has organised various workshops, symposiums, and courses at international, national, and state levels. His roles have included Organizing Chairman for events such as the First Basic Infertility Workshop, IUI Workshop, Semen Analysis and Semen Preparation Workshop, and Cervical Cancer Screening Course among others. He has also served as Organizing Secretary and Committee Member for several gynaecology-related events.  

Beyond his clinical duties, Prof. Dr. Jaya Balan is actively involved in several non-government organisations and societies (NGOs). He is the Present Perak State Chairman of the Malaysian Research Development Committee, Present Vice President of the Perak Family Health Association, a Life Member of the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS), and a member of the Executive Committee and State. He is also the State Representative of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia (OGSM).

Prof. Dr. Jaya Balan has been recognised for his contributions to public service, receiving the Paduka Mahkota Perak (PMP), a High-Ranking Award from His Royal Highness Sultan Nazrin Shah.
