After five failed embryo transfers, would you opt for the sixth?
WH had been waiting for nine years to start a family. She completed her first three IVF/FET cycles at one fertility centre, then switched to a second centre for her fourth and fifth cycles, using all euploid embryos with PGT-A testing. She then came to Metro IVF for her next cycle.
Following her oocyte pick-up, three blastocysts were obtained, and after PGT-A testing in Japan, two were found to be mosaic embryos. The couple was counseled and agreed to use the two mosaic embryos for a Frozen Embryo Transfer. Two weeks later, both the UPT and beta-hCG tests were positive! WH, in disbelief, had her beta-hCG repeated during her following visit, elated that it was all real.
Two weeks later, an ultrasound revealed three pregnancy sacs (as one embryo had split into two). By the ninth week, the number of sacs had reduced to two, confirming that WH was expecting twins. Eight months later, WH delivered a set of cute, healthy twins. Neonatal screening showed they were healthy girls.
